Three Steps To New Leads Using Ezine Advertising

Small businesses are always looking for new prospects and leads. Today, it’s even more important than ever. Don’t overlook ezine advertising as an easy, inexpensive way to reach your potential audience.
It takes a bit of work and a few dollars but ezine advertising can generate leads quite effectively based on the use of other people’s lists. You simply need to discover which ezines your customers read and place a relevant ad driving readers from the ezine to your website and voila, new leads.
Follow these three steps.
1. You’ll want to first find out which ezines are popular in your industry and which your potential prospects might be reading. There’s a pretty good chance you are even reading them already yourself. If not, you can run a Google search for popular industry terms combined with the word ezine to uncover popular writers or bloggers or industry publications. Email a few of your best clients and see who they are reading. You can even send an email to your list and get ideas back from them about who else they read.
2. Now you’ll have a list of ezines that are being read and followed by your target audience you need to find if they could work for you. Subscribe and read a few issues to see if your product or ad would fit into their material. See if any of your competition is advertising. If you see competitors that are long term advertisers you might learn that this marketing channel is working for them. Contact the ezine and ask how big their subscriber base is. Check their rates for single issue placements and if there are discounts for multiple issues or longer term commitments. Ask them to share their open and click rates for advertisers similar to you.
3. Treat ezine advertising campaigns like a Pay Per Click or Banner ad. Your goal is to move potential leads from their inbox to your landing page on your website. You’ll want to make sure your ad gets notices. A good ad headline will usually do the trick. Next you want the reader to click on the ad and visit your site. A well written and compelling offer will do that. Then on your landing page you’ll want a good reason for the new visitor to leave their email address behind so you can start to engage them in your selling process.
